FAQ

What is Twitter?

As tazaar is based on it, you should be familiar with what it is. As they put it: “Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”

What is tazaar?

tazaar is a simple way to sell or buy stuff via Twitter. We show and let you post tweets that contain the hashtags #wtb (want to buy) or #wts (want to sell). You can sift through the tweets on our site and contact other users. And if both you and the other user follow tazaar on Twitter, you can even send direct messages through tazaar without the need to follow each other. That way you can share personal details about a deal with a user without including him or her in your regular twitterstream. Nifty, eh?

Why should I come back to tazaar?

You may of course use the Twitter website or any Twitter client to post or look for #wtb and #wts tweets. But here at tazaar, the bed’s already been made. You can check the latest offers and requests, find what you’re looking for, and our popular tags show you what’s hot on the Twitter bazaar. And then there’s that nice opportunity to send direct messages through tazaar without following the user on Twitter. But you already knew that.

What’s with this #wtb and #wts?

140 characters. Twitter is about being short. And tazaar – as you may guess by the name – is too. So, if you want to buy something, use #wtb. Want to sell something, use #wts in your tweet. Doesn’t get much shorter than this. The hashtag # we just use to find all your wtb’s and wts’s in the Twitter universe.

Do I need a tazaar account?

Nope. All you need to use tazaar is your Twitter account. In case you haven’t got one, grab one over at Twitter.

Twitter asks me to authorize tazaar as an application. Is this safe?

Yep. tazaar uses “Sign in with Twitter” to connect with your Twitter account. That way, you can send tweets through tazaar and even contact other users on tazaar without giving us your user credentials. We don’t ask for your password. And we do not store it. Your sensible data remains with Twitter at all times. You only need to authenticate tazaar in order to send tweets from the tazaar website and be able to contact other users through tazaar. You’ll follow tazaar on Twitter automatically in the process, but may of course choose to unfollow at any time.

Can I revoke the authorization for tazaar in Twitter?

Of course you can. If no longer want to authorize tazaar, you can disable the access to authorized services from the ‘Connections’ tab on the ‘Settings’ page of your Twitter account. Remember, though, that you won’t be able to send messages through tazaar once you’ve cancelled the authorization.

Why should I follow tazaar on Twitter?

By following tazaar on Twitter you’ll enable us to send you direct messages via Twitter. Why should you want that? Say somebody wants to reply to one of your tweets on tazaar. If you follow us on Twitter, that user will be able to post his reply as a direct message to you without you two having to follow each other. The message is sent to the tazaar account and we’ll redirect it directly to you.

Who gets the messages I send on tazaar?

A message sent on tazaar is a tweet. It behaves like a tweet you send on Twitter. When posting on tazaar you post to your twitterstream. When @-replying to a message on tazaar, the message is sent to the user you reply to, but can be seen by anyone.
If the recipient follows tazaar on Twitter, you can also send direct messages to users you don’t even follow on Twitter. To do so, we relay the message through our tazaar account. Technically, you send tazaar a direct and tazaar forwards it. So the message can only be read by the user you send it to and the relaying tazaar account on Twitter. And we won’t read unless you really beg us to.
